To continue with my contest submissions, one of the local health insurance companies asked for videos or pictures showing people being active - a way to promote a healthy lifestyle. I thought, 'I could do this'. So I gathered my co-stars and my husband to film and we sent in a short submission. Months passed and although I saw a few of the commercials, I did not see my submission. Then one day as I was sitting at my kitchen table working, with the TV on in the background, I saw it. It was glorious! My first TV commercial! It was non-paid, in case you were wondering.
Here is the clip. Make sure not to blink, we're on at around 18 seconds. Once again, my co-stars nailed it! They are so very talented. Enjoy!

Hello everyone! While we are working diligently on our new series, we decided to take a break and show some funny videos. When I first entered the acting realm and was learning the craft, I needed to find a way to practice and showcase my, um, talent. LOL.
So what I did was enter several contests which required videos. This is one of my favorites. This was a contest for Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston to promote their online medicine department. The winner would receive $1,000!
Well, what I didn't realize at the time is that one really needed to self-promote the video and have their friends vote for them. The contest is now over and no, I did not win. I still like the video. My co-star nailed it! Enjoy!

During my journey into this creative process, one word kept popping up - 'branding.' Something that people can see, instantly recognize, identify and remember. So this is usually a logo, catchphrase, picture, whatever works well for this.
In the last post, I mentioned the catchphrase for our new show is 'more wine.' This was easily discovered and the thing that drove this whole experience. When Gisèle, Amy, and I hang out as friends do, we enjoy wine. I noticed that we would always offer each other 'more wine?', not 'would you like more wine', or 'here have some more wine' etc. That started me thinking, we could write skits about this phrase. Thus Gisèle and I started filming some simple, short funny skits using that particular phrase. Of course, Amy was a natural addition and the rest is history. Please note, not all our skits will involve wine, alcohol, ourselves, or even humans! We have a lot planned!
That is also how the show was developed. We all just enjoy each other company so we thought about inviting people to join us and just enjoy themselves.
Now that we had a catchphrase and some skits, we needed a logo. Amy is very good at those types of computer programs so we sat down one Saturday and tried a couple of things. Some worked, some didn't.
On a side note, it's funny through all this we do not have many still pictures of the three of us. We did take one and it's ok. It's a bit blurry, our hair is messy and we weren't dressed well, but I liked it. More of a sentimental thing. So I thought, hey why don't we use the outline of the three of us as our logo. Amy wasn't convinced but was willing to try it. She traced our outline and removed the remainder of the picture. She was right in her reservations. The three of us were so close together, our new 'logo' looked like an awkward mountain! She quickly said, 'No, that won't do.'
So we went back to our catchphrase and Amy found a very nice wine glass. Since we had the title 'Judy Clark After Dark', all we needed was a font. We thought, well, our catchphrase is 'more wine' and our logo has a wine glass in it, so we felt neon would be good. Then in the future, we can animate the logo and have the neon flash on as neon occasionally does.
Colors and word placement were the last decisions. We choose a dark background because the title has 'After Dark', plus neon looks better in the dark. Pink seemed appropriate because quite frankly, we like the color pink. Sometimes it really is just that simple.
Thus our logo came to life. See what you think.

Since we have different media presence, we also needed a banner which is very similar to our logo.

Until next time - adieus!
